Upon his return to Mount Manresa, GMRF Children’s home on Staten Island, Mohammed is greeted by Aaron Hughes.
Aaron is an Iraqi war vet who flew to New York from Chicago to engage Mohammed in art and film projects for a GMRF film festival next year. Aaron is amazed at Mohammed’s creative talents and the competitive energy he displayed during a game of soccer on the grounds of Mount Manresa days after receiving his new leg.
MOHAMMED RASOUL ARRIVES IN NEW YORK
All smiles, Mohammed touched down on American soil and into the embrace of the GLOBAL MEDICAL RELIEF FUND. This week was his first surgery at The Shriners Childrens Hospital where he will be fitted with a new leg and begin steps to a brighter future. His medical rehabilitation and energy to develop new skills to fulfill his dream of becoming an architect to rebuild schools in his native Iraq, will keep him very busy. While he shares with us his vision, I know we will learn as much from him as he will learn from us.
